Discovering Your Purpose

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
—Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

Purpose isn’t something we invent—it’s something we uncover. You were made on purpose, for a purpose, by a purposeful God. Before you were even born, God had plans for your life. You are His masterpiece, uniquely crafted to reflect His glory in a way no one else can.

I remember counseling a young woman who felt lost. She worked hard, served faithfully at church, but constantly asked, “Why am I even here?” We began to explore her passions, strengths, and the burdens God had placed on her heart. Over time, it became clear—her calling wasn’t hidden, it was simply buried under comparison and fear. When she began embracing her unique identity in Christ, her purpose began to shine.

You don’t have to have it all figured out today. Purpose unfolds step by step as you walk with God. Sometimes, He speaks through passion. Other times, through pain. Often, through faithful obedience in small things. But every day you seek Him, you are walking in purpose.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for creating me with purpose. Help me to trust that my life has meaning, even when I can’t see the full picture. Open my eyes to see the unique role You’ve given me, and give me courage to walk it out in faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What activities or conversations make you feel most alive or useful for God’s kingdom?
  2. Are there past experiences—good or painful—that may be shaping your purpose today?
  3. What’s one step you can take this week to walk more intentionally in your God-given calling?
